Leh : Pangong Tso Lake

Pangong Tso is the most beautiful lake I have ever seen in my life with it's blue color, surrounding mountains and clear transparent water where one can see all the pebbles. Despite the fact that it has been shown in many movies, it's beauty is just so spectacular that it leaves you awed. Pangong lake is shared by India and Tibet(occupied by China).

It took us four hours to reach Pangong from Nubra Valley with all the stops in between to see the view points. The road to Pangong gets horrible at several parts with concrete - motion sickness people, brace yourselves. But this road was also the most beautiful one with many streams and view points.

It was extremely cold and it was snowing nearby the lake. The lake apparently freezes completely in winter. We couldn't get camping at Pangong, as it gets quite cold in the October nights. Our hotel was near river Tangste, which was about 30 minutes away from Pangong.

You would also find several movie props at the spot like the yellow scooter from 3 idiots, bullet from Jab tak hai jaan, etc. So if you want to pose like Kareena or Sharukh, you can do so.

Okay, I will stop with the photos now. You get it, you will end up clicking a zillion pics and still feel like taking more.

We have spent all noon at the lake and in the evening, we went back to our hotel. This was our Day 5 in Leh itinerary.
